A Penn State student was ordered to stand trial on a charge of indecent assault yesterday for allegedly cornering a female Penn State student in a bathroom and inappropriately touching her.
Joseph A. Pecora, 23, a resident of the 100 block of Northbrook Lane, was bound over for trial by District Justice Bradley Lunsford after a preliminary hearing at Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
According to court documents and testimony given during the hearing, the victim went to a party at University Commons Apartments, 201 Vairo Blvd., where the following events allegedly occurred on the evening of Nov. 22.
The victim said she was seated on a couch, at which point Pecora allegedly grabbed her hand and pulled it towards his crotch several times. The victim said she became uncomfortable and told Pecora she had to go to the bathroom.
While in the bathroom, the victim testified that she heard a knock on the door and opened it to find Pecora standing there. He allegedly entered the bathroom, locked the door behind him and turned out the lights. Pecora then shoved the victim against the bathroom sink, kissed her several times and touched her inappropriately, according to court documents.
Pecora is scheduled for a pretrial conference on May 27. Jury selection in the case is June 14.
