Pa. man convicted of robberies in the area

Gregory S. Meyer, of 2290 Purdue Mountain Rd., Bellefonte, was sentenced yesterday to 8 1/2 to 17 years in prison for robberies in the State College area.

Meyer was convicted on five counts of burglary, five counts of theft from a motor vehicle, three counts of robbery, and one count each of making bomb threats and careless driving.

Meyer was arrested after the attempted armed robbery of Sheetz, 2000 E. College Ave. on July 12. He was taken into custody after employees disarmed him.

Police also later connected him to a robbery that occurred at the Uni-Mart at the corner of Whitehall Road and West College Avenue in Ferguson Township on the same date.
