Yesterday's Daily Collegian editorial accused the new Unborn Victims of Violence Act of being an immoral attack on Roe vs. Wade and attempt an to play off the sympathy in the Laci Peterson case ("Proposed U.S. bill opens door to drawn-out, personal politics," March 4). The question is, what exactly is immoral about that? If you believe, as I do, that abortion is one of the most terrible acts our society condones, then you must do everything in your power (short of violence, of course) to stop it from continuing.
As far as the Peterson trial is concerned, when I first heard about the bill, Peterson didn't even come to my mind. Is it so hard to believe that there is a lawmaker who wants to simply try to protect the most innocent and helpless members of our society?
