Firewalls are simply a part of working world

Firewalls are not designed for blocking viruses. They can be altered to do it somewhat, but that is not their basic function. Anti-virus gateways are designed to block viruses. Firewalls are there to help protect a network from hacking attempts, and yes, it is used to control access and what the network does. Get used to firewalls.

Most companies use them, and if they don't, they should. I can sit at my desk and glance over at a monitoring station and see every single thing people are accessing on the Internet from our company at this moment. That is what life is like in the corporate world.
