A man, possibly accompanied by another person, stole an undisclosed amount of money from Wild Card, 346 E. College, at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the State College Police Department said.
Wild Card employees were cleaning the store and were out of sight of the cash register when a man entered and began talking with them. When he left, the employees noticed that money from a cash drawer located underneath the counter was missing, as well as money from some of the employees' purses. Police would not say how much money was taken.
Cpl. Matthew Wilson said one of two scenarios occurred while the man was in the store. One possibility is that the man distracted the employees by talking to them as they were cleaning behind some shelves while another person stole the money.
Wilson said the second possibility is the man talked to the employees, left their sight to quickly steal the money and then continued talking to them.
Police described the man as white, about 25 years old, with a skinny build and brown hair about ear length. He was wearing a navy blue shirt and a baseball hat.
There are no suspects in the case, and a police investigation is underway.
