Religious arguments old, don't carry weight

There seems to be a number of people trying to convince me that marriage is a pact with God and that gay marriage is an aberration. But why, especially if you are not a Christian, should you care about what a Christian god thinks? Maybe God has nothing to do with it. Marriage is a common tradition in countries that have never or have only moderately been exposed to Christian influence. This ranges from simple monogamous pair bonding to elaborate courtships and traditions. To say that the Christian god created marriage is a folly that omits all other classes of religion, tradition and lifestyle.

Myself, being an atheist, would never want to have a Christian marriage. Does that mean I can't get married? I'm sick of this entire Genesis, Adam and Eve junk that fundamentalist have been pushing on people who just want to live and be happy. How are they infringing on your rights? It's not like the government is forcing you to share your car with a homosexual couple.

I say chill out, live and let live, and have a beer with those dudes who like to get "f'n wasted."
