Animals join humans in varied sex orientations
Since George Wright ("Same-sex marriages cannot logically exist," March 1) wants to base what "cannot logically exist" on what "God has ordained as right," let's take a look at some more of God's creations. Flamingoes, penguins, sheep, guinea pigs, elephants, rams -- these are all on the list of God's natural wonders. These are also animals in which at least 10 percent of the population exhibits homosexuality or bisexuality. The list does not end with these particular species; it goes on and on. Indeed, "a dog is a dog," "a cat is a cat," and homosexuality does exist in nature. It's that simple. Clearly, humans are not alone in their variance of sexual orientations. If Wright has decided that the Bible is to be believed and God did create everything we see around us, then he is forgetting that, while Adam and Eve may have been a heterosexual couple, about 10 percent of the animals surrounding them in Eden and 10 percent of their descendants were not. I suggest that Wright and others who use a religious argument against same-sex marriages stop taking it upon themselves to decide what God wants and doesn't want. Jen Crawford
