Take responsibility, use PSU's alternative offers
In response to Matt Keefe's letter yesterday, "Drunk culture at PSU annoying, hurts sleep," I offer the following: Yes, parties can be intrusive. Yes, parties can be annoying at times. While I understand Keefe's argument, I find it impossible to offer sympathy. It's fairly obvious that the majority of Penn State students party. Every weekend, rain or shine, or perhaps more appropriately, snow or ice, Penn State students indulge in the fabulous nightlife that is downtown. Assuming Keefe's entire collegiate career has been spent at Penn State, he would be in his sixth semester. That's approximately 75 weeks (averaging 15 weeks per semester) prior to the onset of this semester. Seventy-five weekends of parties, drunks and debauchery, and only now does he act? The university offers alternative living options for those who prefer a substance-free lifestyle. I suggest the following for Keefe and anyone who shares his opinion. Stop complaining, assume some responsibility and take advantage of what the university offers. Kevin Cartier
