This letter is in response to yesterday's editorial, "USG must replace lofty goals with clear, effective execution." I find it really sad that The Daily Collegian is criticizing one of Penn State's most effective student leaders in recent memory because he tried to do too much for the student body. Regardless of the fact that the class excuse initiative did not work out this year, at least the Ian Rosenberger/Takkeem Morgan administration attempted it. I can guarantee that the hundreds of hours they spent trying to bring this positive change for students is something no one else in this entire university would have been willing to undertake so selflessly.
Throughout the year, as problems within USG have once again dominated the headlines in the Collegian, I have consistently read quotes in your paper from Rosenberger, where he urges student government members to move past personal disputes in order to accomplish the goals they set out to accomplish. I have never seen leaders like Rosenberger and Morgan so focused and dedicated to improving this school, and there is no doubt that so much less would have been accomplished if not for their focus, dedication and commitment. To Rosenberger and Morgan: Thanks for helping bring back Napster, the lights, the online surveys allowing us all to voice our opinions so easily and the countless other things you've done for this school. You will be a tough act to follow.
