'Take control' of lives instead of using 'faith'

Allen Tingley's column Tuesday used the wrong words (" 'Faith' carries more than religious experiences, George Michael tune," Feb. 24). The appropriate words are "take control (of your life)." Waiting for your life to change could be a waste if nothing happens. But, if you take action (positive action), your life will get better quicker and for your long-term good.

Making no decision is the worst thing you can do. Even making a bad decision is OK -- you can make another decision and improve your circumstance. Take control, schedule an 8 a.m. class, audit one class each semester, randomly read books at the library (that big concrete building at the top of the mall), read the college catalogue to see what other courses and subjects are offered and then get a part-time job in the career field you are studying.

Take control, join a club, get off your butt. Rather than having faith and waiting for things to happen, shouldn't you "take control" and make things happen?
