The exhibit features a collection of local artwork from Art Alliance's weekly open model sessions.
"There aren't many places in the area to show nude figurative artwork," Laura Winn Kane, the exhibit's coordinator, said.
Winn Kane, a State College resident, said she expects to put at least two pieces of her figurative artwork in the show. She mainly works with charcoal, but may also exhibit one of her pastel works.
Sean Reardon, a professor of education and sociology, attends the Alliance's open model sessions regularly, at which he captures the grace of the human form in such mediums as charcoal and acrylics.
Reardon is an advocate of drawing from live subjects.
"Anyone who wants to be an artist or a hobbyist should learn to draw from life," he said.
"The atmosphere at the open model sessions is very laid back and relaxed, and students are encouraged to attend," Reardon added. "It would be great if more students would be in interested in participating."
The exhibit is important to both the artists involved and the community, Reardon said.
Art at the show will be in a variety of mediums, including acrylics, charcoals, pastels, clay, pencil drawings and watercolors.
Cecilia Moore, of State College, plans on exhibiting her work in acrylics at the Go Figure exhibit. Moore, a 10-year Art Alliance veteran, has participated in the exhibit before and is looking forward to sharing her work with the community.
The exhibit and sale open with a reception for the public from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Following the reception, the exhibit will feature work from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
