Lady Lions guard Wright named co-player of week
Tanisha Wright was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week after a stellar two-game campaign against Wisconsin and Iowa in which she averaged 20.5 points, four assists and four rebounds while shooting at a 56 percent clip.
On Sunday versus Iowa, Wright led the No. 7 Lady Lions (21-4, 13-1) with a season-high 24 points on 10-for-17 shooting to lead the Lady Lions to a 70-58 win at Iowa. Earlier in the week, Wright scored 17 points, dished out five assists and grabbed two rebounds in Penn State's 66-50 win over Wisconsin. Her eight field goals pushed her over 500 made for her career.
Wright is one of only two players to rank in the top 15 in scoring and top five in assists in the Big Ten.

Women's golf in 15th in Puerto Rico Classic
Three of Penn State five women's golfers improved on day 2 of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, but the Nittany Lions remain in 15th-place with a two-round score of 646 at Dorado Del Mar Country Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Duke sits in first-place (285-293-578), Oklahoma is second (293-296-589), Georgia is in third (292-299-591), USC is fourth (297-297-594) and Tulsa rounds out the top five (304-296-600).
Big Ten teams Michigan and Purdue are in 10th (315-307-622) and 14th (321-314-635) respectively.
The Nittany Lions were paced yesterday by freshman Evelyn Paik who shot a five-over 77 for a two-round total of 157, which is good for 47th place. She is followed by teammate sophomore Amber Weinerth , who fired a eight-over 80. She sits in 51st-place with 78-80-158.
The tournament will conclude with another round of 18 tomorrow, which will begin at 8 a.m.
