Drop/add examined by Academic Assembly

Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Academic Assembly passed several pieces of legislation last night at its weekly meeting, including a resolution to begin discussion concerning possible changes to the university's drop/add schedule.

The discussion of the resolution, led by Academic Assembly President D. Joshua Troxell, addressed a possible extension of the drop dates for certain university classes.

The changes would give students a chance to attend lab and recitation periods that do not meet during the first week of classes before the drop date.

Possible changes also include extending the add deadline 24 hours past the drop deadline.

Other business that was discussed at the meeting included new Web-based Graduate Record Examinations (GREs) and the under-funded Most Innovative Teacher Award.

The GREs are poised to make a change from their current standards in computer testing to a Web-based system that is becoming popular nationwide.

Academic Assembly is pursuing possibilities to fund the Most Innovative Teacher Award to ensure that the annual award does not become defunct.
