Fund raising for the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon from October through February is commonplace at Penn State; however, some people take the efforts above and beyond the regular canning trips.
Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson has confirmed to The Daily Collegian that he was involved in the fight that occurred at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion Feb. 7.
While the majority of Penn Staters are men, national statistics show that the university runs counter to a national trend of mostly female college students.
Public urination is a common problem that occurs in many cities. So much so that last month, the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association launched a $10,000 campaign to help curb bar patrons from mistaking the streets as toilets.
There are elements that help us realize reality and other elements that keep us in a "dream world," said Salih Adem, an expert on Islam and positive sciences, at a "Matrix and Sufism" seminar Friday.

A "W" in the win column isn't always as complimentary as it appears. On a day annually reserved for love, there was none in Rec Hall -- at least for the opposition. Josh Moore kept his warm-ups on until there was 15 seconds left in the second period of Adam Smith's match. Penn State Lady Icers coach Chris Whittemore took on the role of hockey chemist for Sunday's game at Ohio State. Whittemore has kept line combinations relatively staid this season. After suffering a 2-1 loss to the Buckeyes on Saturday Whittemore elected to mix things up -- quite a bit. The Penn State men's basketball team played one solid half of basketball on Saturday against Northwestern. The problem was that the Nittany Lions didn't seem to play the other half at all. How do you turn a sixth straight victory, on senior day, and against an intrastate rival into something less than perfect? Junior forward Justin DePretis sat just a few feet to the left of Robert Morris (Ill.) goalie Aaron Merkle with the seconds ticking down on the No. 1 Penn State ACHA Div. I Icers' (30-2-0) man advantage, the blade of his lefthanded stick stuck to the ice. It wasn't supposed to be like this. The Penn State women's track team faced its two biggest rivals this weekend in the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup: Michigan and Ohio State. Heading into yesterday's game against Michigan the No. 8 Penn State Lady Lions had a lot of questions that needed to be answered. After the Lady Lions defeated Texas on Dec. 7, Penn State women's basketball coach Rene Portland referred to junior point guard Jess Strom as a "little gnat fly," and her actions on the court as those that "really spurred things on." Departed honorable mention, All-American goalie Chris Garrity left a large shadow of doubt in net for the No. 17 Penn State men's lacrosse team this season. The temperature may have been hovering around 25 degrees, but the athletes on Penn State's intramural ski team didn't mind -- they had ice water running through their veins. Even before the 4-x-400 meter relay began, you could hear Penn State's crowd screaming "Ernie! Ernie!" for Penn State men's track and field sprinter Ernie Terrell. Knowing what you need to do and getting it done can be very difficult. With three of the four days completed at the Junior Olympics at the Cleveland Convention Center, freshmen Ian Farr and Sophia Hiss proved to be the biggest highlights for the Penn State fencing team. Two out of three ain't bad - but according to Penn State boxing coach Alex Komlev, the victories at Lock Haven University this past Saturday don't necessarily mean that the Penn State boxing team is where it needs to be. Here we go. As a senior leader, Leigh Ann Merryman is a link to better days for the women's tennis program, when they went to the NCAA tournament in her freshman year. A Boston-based band will kick off a nine-night Midwestern tour in State College tonight. It began sometime Saturday with the influx of cowboys and cowgirls in State College, competing with the Valentine's Day couples for the streets, wandering in and out of bars during the early afternoon and singing their own rowdy renditions of Toby Keith hits on the buses.
