PSU police investigate arson in two dorms

Four incidents of arson were reported on campus in the last several days, Penn State University Police said.

Two bulletin boards, an elevator and paper were set ablaze by unknown individuals between Wednesday and Saturday in Packer and Stuart halls. University police are investigating the cases.

No further information is being released because the cases are under active investigation, police said.

The first incident in Packer Hall was reported at 10:15 a.m. Thursday and caused about $20 worth of damage to a bulletin board. The fire occurred between 3 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, police said.

An elevator was also reported damaged by fire at 9:22 a.m. the following day in the same building. The damage occurred between 4 p.m. Thursday and 8:05 a.m. Friday. Value of the damage is estimated at $100.

The first Stuart Hall incident was reported at about 3 a.m. Friday. Paper was lit on fire and set off the building's fire alarm. Another bulletin board was also ignited at about 5 a.m. Saturday in the building. Damage estimates for both incidents in Stuart Hall are unknown.
