Letter to the Editor
Selected speech zones 'unfortunate,' insulting

The Undergraduate Student Government should receive some commendation for its attempts at adjusting the policy regarding "free-speech zones" around our campus ("USG Senate proposes new free-speech zones," Feb. 12).

For most who understand the First Amendment, the very thought of these existing is already an insult. The clarification made by Steve McCarthy is helpful, but begs the question of why such an unfortunate name for these areas would be found appropriate.

The movement of free speech is one step from the removal of free speech.
