Sure this was an away game, but Penn State fans dominated the crowd. The Philadelphia natives on the squad made sure plenty of family members and old friends from home came out to see the game.
"It was a big game and it was a big turnout," junior Katie King said.
"This was a team that was not strong at all last year and we were really surprised to see them ranked so high coming into the game."
King led the Lady Icers in scoring with a hat trick as nearly everyone on the Lady Icers bench saw playing time over the weekend.
"It looked like everyone was going to get a goal in the game at one point," King said. "Alex McVicker got one, Becky Holmes got one, Kate Connolly, Esther Gomez ... everybody."
This type of game makes it hard for a team to stick to the game plan, but that's just what the Lady Icers did.
"We just played our game all around," defenseman Stephanie Feyock said.
"We kept the puck in their half for most of the game, which let us work in our usual three lines pretty easily. We just played Lady Icers hocke. There wasn't any showboating or unsportsmanlike celebrating or anything like that."
With the season winding down, the team hopes to ride the momentum from the rout of the Quakers.
Next week's matchup against Ohio State will be a harsh final test with nationals looming on the horizon.
