Letter to the Editor
Senate's minutes available to public

I would like to address some of the concerns raised in Friday's article, "USG Senate delays in posting minutes."

As Undegraduate Student Government (USG) Senate secretary, I play an important role in maintaining Senate's documents as public record. For those students who do not know the public records policy, all legislation at its final disposition is public, in addition to meeting minutes, upon approval of Senate. Hard copies of either set of documents may be found in the internal affairs binder or minutes binder, available upon request.

Minutes and legislation will be posted on the USG Web site upon completion of its construction and readiness for the uploading of our documents. When that occurs, I will be responsible for providing Senate's public documents to the Web master. For those students wishing to obtain documents at this time or in the future, I invite them to complete a "Request for public documents" form, found in the USG office, 223 HUB.

This form is available for use on the intra-organizational, inter-organizational, and campus-wide level. Requests completed through this form are processed in one to three academic days. Students who are unable to come to the USG office may contact me via e-mail at shawng@psu.edu or contact their area senators.

I encourage all interested students who want to know what is going on in USG Senate to stop by the office and view our minutes or complete a request for a copy.
