State College resident charged with assault

State College resident Tyrone Scott Sheldon, 19, is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and criminal mischief after State College police responded to a call from the 400 block of Waupelani Drive early Friday morning.

Sheldon argued with a female victim before the incident escalated to a shoving match in which Sheldon and the victim hit each other several times.

According to a police report, Sheldon held a large cutlery knife against the victim's left cheek. The victim screamed, and Sheldon held her head from behind and put the knife to her hair.

Sheldon dragged the victim off the couch by her ankles, and stepped on her hair. Sheldon then pulled her body up by the arms, causing hair to be pulled out by the roots.

The victim was able to exit the apartment and use a neighbor's phone to call a friend.
