The Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon may only be 48 hours on the floor, but many Thon dancers adjust their entire lifestyles in preparation for the event.

The Beaver Canyon cameras have yet to be used for identifying unidentified criminals, but they have been used to corroborate witnesses' accounts of particular incidents.

There has been an increase in the number of alcohol referrals and citations given to students, and some university officials are speculating as to why.

While the weather caused traffic around State College to slow down this week, the traffic to many weather Web sites was heavier than usual.

Students involved in non-greek fraternities and sororities will no longer be able to participate in Greek Week because of a recent vote by the four governing greek councils.

The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate has not yet posted meeting minutes and senators' voting records on its Web site, which the body voted to do last spring.

Despite an ominous weather forecast, crowds of people poured into Eisenhower Auditorium to hear the words of Maya Angelou last night.

Six-foot-tall, blue-eyed and brown-haired Mark Wieder won a $10,000 scholarship not for being the best athlete or the smartest in his class -- but for being voted 2003's teenage heartthrob.

SPORTS

After a few games against lesser competition, the No. 11 Penn State men's volleyball team (5-3, 2-0 EIVA) will get back to its grueling non-conference schedule when it takes on Southern California (1-8, 0-5 MPSF) and the University of California-San Diego (4-4, 2-3 MPSF).

The word exhibition may be written next to tomorrow's match against No. 1 John Hopkins, but for the No. 17 Penn State men's lacrosse team, it is much more than that. Instead, it's more like a challenge or a measuring stick, one much longer than the one's being used tomorrow.

The 17 graduating seniors on the Penn State women's track roster will be honored before tomorrow's meet in what should be a tear-filled pseudo-send-off.

It's the oldest invitational indoor track meet in the world and it is happening on the grandest stage of them all, Madison Square Garden.

The first action the Penn State men's tennis team sees this spring will be anything but a warm-up. The Nittany Lions will have to compete in a very tough opening match and must prove they have what it takes to be successful this season.

The Penn State Ice Lions should be in for an interesting test this weekend. They play at Ohio State and, according to their website, the first 1,500 fans get in free. The Ice Lions don't normally see that many fans at home.

The Penn State women's gymnastics team is looking to knock off its fifth straight opponent and pick up its first road win of the season at the State Farm CAT Classic.

The Penn State men's tennis team will be counting on the strong play of three senior leaders to take the step to reach a new level this season.

Both the Penn State and Ohio State men's swimming and diving teams will finish their dual meet seasons today, while both look ahead to the Big Ten championships three weeks away.

Despite reports that Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson will switch to defensive back, the junior from Richmond will remain a quarterback, according to his former coach at Varina High School, Gary Chilcoat.

Here's some advice to any Penn State wrestler that might cross paths with Michigan's 133-pound star Foley Dowd before the Nittany Lions and Wolverines throw down on Sunday at 1. Avoid ladders, black cats, broken mirrors and the random open umbrellas hanging around inside Rec Hall.

Flashback to Nov. 14 on the No. 1 Penn State ACHA Div. I Icers Web site and one would see a 7-1 loss next to the opponent's column, followed by a little asterisk next to the score.

Business as usual.

ARTS

Come hell or high water (or State College and cold weather), the ladies of Savoir Faire are ready to compete in this weekend's International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA). The competition, which is in its quarterfinal rounds, will take place at 10 p.m. tomorrow in HUB Alumni Hall.

John Xanthopoulos knows the State College music scene only too well.

There's an Air record you should buy, but it's not the new one. It's called Moon Safari, and for the past six years, it's provided the soundtrack to many an indie-rock love scene.

Like most college students, I'm both a pop culture junkie and critic.

It happens this way every year.

There's a Breakfast Club reference early on in The Perfect Score, and leaving it in was a terrible mistake. Along with borrowing liberally from Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven remake, the only thing The Perfect Score has going for it is a severe case of John Hughes envy. Except this movie is lifeless. And it's got no Anthony Michael Hall.

"Je ne peux pas comprendre un mot que Stereolab chante."

I'm a sucker for anything Ben Folds.
