After the Penn State men's lacrosse team's 12-10 loss to Maryland Baltimore-County on March 22, the Nittany Lions were 1-5 and, more than anything, down and out. "If you don't shoot, you can't score." Records can be a fickle thing in sports, where in order for an athlete to be so good for so long they must fail nearly as much -- if not more -- than they succeed. When a fan of Penn State sports thinks of Nittany Lions who are nationally recognized in their sports, the names Kelly Mazzante, Joanna Lohman and Pat Cummins come to mind first. But there is another Lions player who was named to the All-America second team in men's volleyball last season. With all of the rumors surrounding Penn Hills quarterback Anthony Morelli's commitment to Penn State yesterday, one rumor in particular has been debunked. Ben Luber and Marlon Smith were looking forward to a little relief. When you're the No. 5 women's basketball team in the country, things are a little different. Losing is not an option. And wins can present not the chance for celebration, but rather for reassessment. This isn't going to be a big thing for Jess Brungo -- and she likes it that way. A ferret, a dance competition, time travel and an SAT heist. Can genius and insanity coexist? Are women capable of mathematical brilliance? Clown phobia has affected many people at some point in their lives. But it's no reason to miss out on the "Most Spectacular Show on Earth." Clutch. Mastodon. Nebula. Farquahar. A little class and culture is making its way into Penn State life through the sounds of a fiddle. But this ain't no country square dance. Jazz is one of those few genres of music that can have both a timeless and historical significance in contemporary culture. Now that the new 12-screen theater has opened, there are quite a lot of film-going opportunities in the area. We, the Collegian movie critics, felt that the time was right to evaluate the venues and break down the pros and cons of each. In the 1800s, virtuosos like Paganini and Liszt were sometimes thought to be possessed because of their amazing musical skill; now, "possessed" has been downgraded to "talented" or "magical." Krusty the Klown found out the hard way: Never bet against the Harlem Globetrotters. Often acclaimed, generally misunderstood, frequently arrested and recently rehabilitated, Ol' Dirty Bastard is coming to town. In honor of Black History Month, the Penn State School of Music will be hosting the 10th annual Celebration of African American Spirituals concert this weekend. I was browsing through my music collection the other day, looking for something to write about, when I came across this utter gem of an album, and man, did it take me back. I am not an anime fan. Cartoons depicting caricature-like humans with plate-sized eyes, stalky legs and bizarre senses of humor never really did it for me. But recently, a friend of mine insisted I watch a couple of episodes of a show called Cowboy Bebop, and now I can proudly say I am officially a closet anime fan. It's a small world after all in the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, located in the HUB-Robeson Center. It is a time-honored tradition for many of us to wake up on Easter morning and hunt for those eggs the elusive bunny has hidden all over the house. Now, many of us have followed that tradition, attempting to find Easter eggs hidden in our favorite albums. My Opinion: Jay Barimani
