Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to cancellation of classes at Penn State yesterday

This is for our amazing President Graham Spanier:

I must thank you for canceling classes yesterday at approximately 8:10 a.m.

However, it does no good for those of us with 8 a.m. classes who have to drive to campus. It took me 30 minutes to drive to school yesterday morning. During that time, I witnessed one accident, two close calls and even one car stuck in a snow embankment.

I feel it is your duty as president to look after the well being of those who are paying your salary. Any accident involving a student who is trying to make it to campus should be on your conscience when you go to bed at night.

Therefore, I ask that when the weather report is clearly calling for bad conditions, use some common sense and cancel or delay classes in a timely fashion.
