An 18-year-old Penn State student reported she was sexually assaulted downtown early Saturday morning by a man unknown to her.
Between 2 and 3 a.m., the woman was walking to a friend's house on the 400 block of East Calder Way when a black SUV-type vehicle pulled up next to her and stopped, according to a report she filed with the State College Police Department Monday evening.
After stopping, the driver began conversing with the woman. The driver then exited the vehicle, leaving it running, and continued to talk to the victim, police said.
The man talked to the victim and repeatedly asked her if she wanted to go to a party. She refused each time, but the suspect continued to ask, the report said.
The man then directed the victim into the passenger's seat of his vehicle, where he followed her into the vehicle directly after her, police said.
Upon entering the vehicle, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. The victim resisted and "temporarily disabled" the suspect, allowing her to exit the vehicle and flee the area, police said.
The victim told police the SUV-type vehicle was black, had four doors and looked new. She also said the vehicle had a modified stereo system and red digital display panel on the instrument controls.
The victim described the suspect as a black man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, having a stocky build and weighing about 215 pounds.
State College police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them at 234-7150 or at www.statecollegepa.us.
