Ohio QB Clark commits to Penn State

Highly touted quarterback Daryll Clark, of Youngstown, Ohio's Ursuline High School, committed to Penn State late yesterday afternoon.

After more than a week's delay in officially making his decision, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect chose to play for the Nittany Lions yesterday after clearing up an issue regarding a grade he received.

According to Clark, he was initially going to select the Lions on Jan. 15, but the Penn State coaching staff asked him to delay his decision so they could look at a questionable grade on his report card. Clark said it was "only one grade" and that the situation was cleared up yesterday. Initial reports speculated that he would have to attend prep school for a year; however, Clark indicated that he would be on campus this summer for workouts and will enroll this fall.

"I'm real happy it's all over with," Clark said. "I can get back to basics and keep on going. I'm ready to go to Penn State."

Clark's decision yesterday gives Penn State 26 verbal commitments for the 2004 recruiting class.
