Men's and women's Swimming vs. Rutgers 1 p.m. tomorrow at McCoy Natatorium

The Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will look to win its final home meets of the season tomorrow.

The men's team is coming off a tough 125-118 loss to Pittsburgh last week.

The meet marks Senior Day, as the men (2-6) will honor both Todd Minnier and Robert Tucker.

The women's team enters the weekend coming off of an emotional victory over defending Big Ten champions Indiana, and will honor seniors Sally Anderson, Krystle Eberwein, Maggie O'Brien, and Kristen Woodring.

"Senior days are always emotional days so hopefully we can show up and give them all we got," Penn State swimming and diving coach Bill Dorenkott said.

The men will be facing a Rutgers team that is 7-0.

"Rutgers is well-coached and rapidly improving," Dorenkott said. "If they're not ranked, they probably should be because they've got some kids who can swim."

Among the Scarlet Knights' notable swimmers is senior Matt Campbell who's been regularly leading his team in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races. Campbell has yet to lose in the 50-free this season.

Rutgers also brings a strong women's team to State College. Two weeks after a pair of resounding victories over St. John's and Seton Hall the Scarlet Knights return to action looking to improve their record to a perfect 9-0.

Like the men's team, the Rutgers women are led by a by a senior freestyle specialist in Casmera Wick who has qualified for the NCAA championships in the 50, 100, and 200- yard events.

On the men's side, Penn State junior diver Marc Gastaldo was named the Big Ten Co- Diver-of-the-Week after winning both the one and three-meter boards with scores of 313.80 and 312.52 respectively.

Amberle Biederman and Alison Riccobono also managed to take swimmer and diver of the week respectively for the women's team.

Diving coach Craig Brown approves of the progress made by his three-some of men's that includes Gastaldo, Adam Pierce and Mike Alderman.

"Overall physically they look awesome, technically they're right on target and the consistency is always the last element to fall into the equation."
