Satirical column still holds offensive views

I am French, and I was offended by Kris Ankarlo's column ("France, the French, 'fruity' French hats next in America's bullseye," Jan. 29).

Don't get me wrong: I understand that the column is sarcastic and
really denounces Americans that hate France and the French because of diverging opinions in international politics.

But the people who really are criticized might not be clever enough to understand the deeper meaning.

To help you understand why this column is particularly offending to French people, let me put that in another context.

Imagine that in order to condemn racism, somebody would go on and on about how much he or she hates black Americans and uses stupid stereotypes, such as "they are inferior to whites, dumb, violent" and much more.

Don't you think that the black American community would feel offended, just like I am offended by this article?
