It is quite obvious that the Penn State campus is a very tough place to clear when it has snowed, but it seems that the Office of Physical Plant (OPP) has become a little bit lazy in its clearings as of late.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, there were still people sliding down steps all over campus. It isn't because there aren't enough people working -- it is just that the people who are working refuse to get out of their machines. The army of skid loaders that OPP uses to clear snow does a very good and fast job of clearing snow.
But, no one ever goes back to clear the steps.
And as anyone who has ever stepped down onto a ramp of snow that used to be a set of steps will tell you, OPP would be better off clearing the steps first before playing with the skid loaders.
Isn't the idea of a delay to clear heavily traveled areas on campus of snow, so that they are safe to walk on before everyone arrives?
