Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to letter criticizing PSU’s cancellation process

I would like to address two issues in Tim Gebhart's letter to the editor yesterday ("No cancellation notice angers students, others," Jan. 27). First, for the future, Gebhart, delays and closures can be found at www.wpsu.psu.edu or by watching the local news. I find it interesting that you expect Penn State to e-mail 36,000 students. Did your high school call every house with an automated message when you had a two-hour delay? I doubt it.

Second, I am disgusted by the lack of respect Gebhart shows for this university. I cannot believe he has the audacity to say "Penn State doesn't give a damn" about him. C'mon guy. Penn State is going to get you a job when you graduate. Penn State has given us people that will be our best friends for life. Penn State has given us what will be the best four years of our life. To show such disrespect for "Dear Old State," which has molded us when we were shapeless in the hands of fate, makes me want to throw up.

I understand that not everyone can love this place the way I do, but I do not understand how someone can have such a cold heart toward Happy Valley. To the senior class gift committee for next year: When it comes time for donations, I will donate double to make up for Gebhart.

It is the least I can do for this university, which has given me so much.
