Readers respond to letter criticizing PSU’s cancellation process
This is in response to yesterday's letter, "No cancellation notice angers students, others," Jan. 27. We attend the Pennsylvania State University. "University" is the important word there. Everybody wants to be thought of as "adults," and I suggest that some people start acting that way. Penn State does alert us about cancellations and delays. In fact, there are two different Web sites that you can check. The site www.wpsu.edu/closings.html is specifically for that purpose, and www.live.psu.edu also displays this information. In fact, the second site allows you to sign up to receive e-mails about class cancellations. Now I'd like to address personal responsibility. Both of these Web sites were included in an edition of the Penn State Student News late last semester, before the first snowfall. If people would bother to read those e-mails, they'd know how to learn of cancellations. Finally, if I was walking to my 8 a.m. class, and I saw no other students walking around on the streets, I would probably get suspicious as to the status of the day's classes. This is especially true if we're in the midst of a snowstorm. This all being said, how about helping out with that class gift? Eric Fallabel
