NEWS

He was the president of a professional basketball team, wrote a book, put two kids through Penn State and is now moving on to a new endeavor -- a pirate museum in Key West, Fla.

Domestic graduate applications have risen, while those of international students are down.

Although students taking courses in computer science and engineering (CSE) have been using the space since the beginning of the semester, yesterday marked the first day that classes in the School of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) could move into its new building on west campus.

Although the number of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) students enrolled at the University Park campus has not reached its target, university officials say the number is increasing.

Pennsylvania Democrats will get their chance to vote for a presidential nominee on April 27.

For the next two weeks, students will be able to take a golden-colored Loop around campus with about 90 of their closest friends.

The Undergraduate Student Government's (USG) lobbying efforts will not be hampered by Governmental Relations Director Frank Camarota's resignation last Monday, USG President Ian Rosenberger said.

For most people in Pennsylvania, the presidential primary is in three months. But for many others, election season is in full swing.

Police are searching for a State College man who allegedly struck a woman in the face before taking $170 from her wallet and fleeing.

College athletics are entering their second year of the Myles Brand era, and he has a lot to deal with.

SPORTS

It appears the griping of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno over officiating hasn't fallen on deaf ears after all.

The storyline: Penn State senior guard Kelly Mazzante, closing in on another record-breaking milestone, sinks the basket that puts her over the top.

The crowd assembled in Rec Hall on Saturday night erupted in cheers after junior Kate Stopper stuck her landing on the balance beam in the Penn State women's gymnastics team's victory against Central Michigan.

After three weeks of being on the road for matches, the No. 9 Penn State Nittany Lions men's volleyball team (3-3) will return home to Rec Hall tonight to open up its Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association schedule against St. Francis (Pa.).

With a fist pump that rivaled Tiger Woods' and a moderate yell, Sophia Hiss was announcing her arrival to the women's saber team on Saturday.

SCIHEALTH

It's that time of year again -- the fitness centers on campus are suddenly crowded. But why are they more crowded now than ever before?

Many people strive to be healthy by exercising and eating a balanced diet, but health encompasses much more than physical well-being, said Dr. Peg Spear, director of University Health Services (UHS).

ARTS

Look in your trash can. Remember crumpling up those two rough drafts and tossing them into the garbage? Think about how much paper you throw away every day. Imagine that instead of ending up in a landfill, this paper would be turned into art.
