No cancellation notice angers student, others
I would like to express my thanks to the university for notifying students about the class cancellations yesterday morning. Scratch that. What I meant to say is that the university did not in any way tell its student body that classes were canceled. I checked my e-mail this morning and looked on the Penn State Web site for information on snow delays. The Web site had not posted cancellations, and my inbox held no mail from Penn State, so I assumed classes were on as normal. I walked to my 8 a.m. class from my off-campus apartment and found a nearly empty classroom. The teaching assistant came in -- late -- and told us classes were canceled until 10 a.m. It's touching to know that "Dear Old State" cares so little for its students that we aren't even told when classes are canceled. Next time it snows, I'm staying in bed. And if anyone asks me to donate for the class gift next year, I'll tell them Penn State doesn't give a damn about me. I am compelled to return the sentiment.
