Army Invitational
1 p.m. tomorrow at West Point, N.Y.
The Penn State women's indoor track team hits the road this weekend for its first away meet of the season.
Tomorrow's Army Invitational in West Point, NY comes right in the middle of a tough training stretch for the Nittany Lions. Penn State women's track coach Beth Alford-Sullivan has been pushing the team especially hard in practice this week.
"We're training through the meet this weekend, so we've been working hard and we'll be resting some scorers," she said.
She is hoping to use the meet to work in some athletes who have yet to make big impact this season.
Several athletes who consistently pick up points for the squad such as seniors Connie Moore and Chi Chi Aduba will not be competing tomorrow. Freshman Kara Dickman will likely sit out as well after suffering a heel injury earlier in the week.
Alford-Sullivan will also keep distance specialists Tracey Brauksieck and Molly Landreth out, but indicated that both are likely to return next weekend at the Penn State National. Both are recuperating from injuries suffered during cross-country season.
"I'm looking at the meet as another opportunity to practice," Alford-Sullivan said. "It's our only big away meet until the Big Ten Championships, and Army has a flat like the one we'll see in the championships."
