Man in pickup truck hits 81-year-old woman

An 81-year-old woman was struck by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck while crossing South Allen Street at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the State College Police Department.

The woman, Mary Laris, was crossing the street about 7 feet from the crosswalk when she was hit, according to the police report.

Robert Rhoades, the driver of the truck, was making a left turn from East Calder Way onto South Allen Street and said he did not see the woman crossing the street.

Laris, who said she did not see Rhoades, suffered a bump on the head and some pain and soreness in her hip. She was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where she was treated and later released.

Rhoades did not report any damage to his truck.
