While many children across the state received electric toy cars for Christmas, 10 Centre County residents were awarded money for new hybrid electric vehicles this month.

The call to action does not end after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and several other student organizations on campus are sponsoring Social Change Week to continue working for social justice every day.

At 4:30 yesterday morning, 46 middle school students traveled from Newark, N.J., to visit University Park and commemorate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

After semesters of careful planning and debate, students in the greek and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied (LGBTA) communities have developed educational programs to create safe space on campus.

A Guatemalan woman returned home one day to find soldiers mopping blood off her floor and her entire family missing, including her 8-month-old sister and 10-year-old daughter.

While video clips and artwork honoring Martin Luther King Jr. in the HUB-Robeson Center attracted only a handful of students yesterday, a small discussion group tackled the issues once addressed by the civil rights advocate.

District Justice Carmine Prestia's downtown court saw a 20 percent increase in criminal charges filed and a 10 percent decrease in total cases filed in 2003.

During the civil rights movement, Americans were fighting two wars: a war in Vietnam and a civil war between different races. Morris Dees said last night that today, history is repeating itself.
