Long lines, gawking annoy students at gym

The time of the year has once again blessed the student body here at Penn State, when all of the New Year's resolutions, quick-fix spring break goers and those who were ridiculed over the holidays for gaining a mere 15 pounds decide to overcrowd the gym facilities. Now, I guess you could get in shape through the exertion of frustration while waiting in the hour lines, but if you're lucky enough to get inside, you will be irritated at the next series of lines that await you.

This is specific to the White Building. As you pass through the doors, thinking to yourself, "Finally, a chance to get down to business," you have to search for an opening. Then, it becomes a foot race just to see whether you can make it to the next machine before the other guy eyeing you down from across the room. If you do make it in time, you'll be mauled with questions as to when you'll be finished.

My suggestion is for all of the people who come to the White Building to eye up the girl in the sports bra or the guy with bulging biceps to stay at home. To those who think a day a week will make you lose the 15 or look good for spring break, stop kidding yourself and leave the facilities to people who utilize it properly.

Lastly, to this university, please expand the facilities offered here at Penn State. Your rival schools such as Ohio State and the University of Pittsburgh have superior amenities offered to their students for almost nothing.

Do not be concerned about the local gyms; they will always have a demand from off-campus residents. And if they do see their numbers slide, remember they are only here because of this institution.
