With just over a month until the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, clubs are getting ready for the last few weeks of preparation. "Its crunch time," Thon overall chair Adam Duff (senior-finance) said.
Yesterday marked the first annual Thon Hoops, in which members of the Four Diamonds Fund were invited to play basketball during the halftime celebration yesterday at the Lady Lions' basketball game. The children, ranging in ages from 3 to 15 years old, played to win free drinks for their respective sections.
"We wanted to do something where the families could come up and meet some of the players," Duff said. "I think it's going to be a good chance for the community to learn more about dance marathon, and it gives the students a chance to see the families they are raising money for."
Last weekend also marked the second canning trip. The trip, originally scheduled for Dec. 5, had to be rescheduled because of poor weather conditions. "I don't foresee a problem with our financial turnout," Duff said.
"The fact that the third canning weekend is right after will be a little tough, but we want everyone to go and have a good time. We're not focused on making money." The third of four canning trips is scheduled for this weekend. The final canning weekend is scheduled from Feb. 13 to 15.
