Event-hosting company rises in fame

Collegian Staff Writer

It all started with three boys who wanted to have fun and make some quick cash.

In the summer of 2000, Kash Sheth, Sunny Patel and Dan Shah wanted to form an event-hosting company as a fun summer job, but since then, it has blown up more than they had ever imagined.

The small event-hosting group has quickly become a full-time job, in the form of a company named Kaos Entertainment.

"Basically, it's a good way to make money; we have fun doing it," said Shah, one of the group's founders.

The company, which has held many successful events at Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave., has grown from a simple promotion group into a party-throwing powerhouse.

According to the its Web site, Kaos Entertainment "has created such a buzz by their successful events by providing the partygoers with events that are both unforgettable and exciting every time."

The group believes its most successful party thus far was its Def Jamaica launch party at Crowbar on Nov. 8.

"We pulled a pretty diverse crowd," Shah said. "We made a lot of money."

Although Kaos Entertainment has been known around Penn State for throwing memorable parties at the Crowbar, it covers many areas on the East Coast.

"We cover Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania," Shah said.

The company also throws parties at a variety of venues.

"We normally throw parties pretty much everywhere," Kaos Entertainment executive director Sheth said in an e-mail.

"For instance, in Washington, D.C., we work with Dream Nightclub and Paper Moon. We recently hosted a New Year's party in Atlanta, and as for Penn State, our primary venue is Crowbar," he added.

Kaos Entertainment recently teamed up with 927 Entertainment, a company based in the Southern states.

The two companies work as a partnership, each encouraging their own areas to attend the other company's parties.

Kaos Entertainment always does its best to keep partygoers happy.

"The types of students we try to cater to are the ones who like hip-hop, R&B and house," Sheth said. "The students we see are the ones that we like to cater to."

Kaos Entertainment is planning two upcoming events that should excite the Penn State community, Sheth said. Next Friday at Crowbar, Kaos Entertainment is teaming up with Playboy to help the magazine celebrate its 50th year.

"We will have the college Playmate of the Year appearing there," Sheth said.

However, Sheth said the other upcoming event is even more exciting.

"Our most awaited and biggest event for Penn State will be Spring Tease 2, which we started last year as an end of the semester party for the spring semester," Sheth said. "ST2's dates are not released as of yet."

For more information on future parties, visit the company's Web site, (www.kaosentertainment.com) or Crowbar's Web site (www.crowbarlivemusic. com).
