Students 'waste' time, money through laziness
Re: "The persistence of morning classes," Jan. 14, or "Why I'm too lazy to get up in the morning." Poor baby. Can't get your beautiful little butt out of bed in time to make an 8 a.m. class? Well, it's time to grow up. College is not a four-year vacation designed around your personal preferences to sleep late, "party all night" and, in general, run amuck. How long do you think an employer is going to "keep you on" if you can't get to work on time, regardless of what time of day or night you are scheduled to work? Professor Brown said he "found it difficult to teach drowsy students at 8 a.m." Fine! Send them home and flunk them. Look wimps, if you can't manage your time more effectively, you are wasting your time, the instructor's time and the school's space for a student that really wants to learn, whose space you took. Think of the hours you will waste over the four, five or six years you take to graduate. Let's see, who was it who scheduled the classes you take? When I attended Penn State 40 years ago, a professor told me, "You can do anything after midnight before midnight, if you just start a little earlier." Do we need a class on time management and how to schedule your classes? Roland O. Reed
