An Australian man was arrested by the State College Police Department for allegedly stalking a Penn State student Sunday night.
Trent Young, a 29-year-old resident of Sydney, traveled from Allentown, Pa., on both Jan. 10 and 11 to see the victim at work in State College, according to the State College police.
The victim's father reported the incidents to the police, and Young was taken into custody. He was arraigned by District Justice Daniel Hoffman and placed in the Centre County Jail, where bail is unknown.
The victim met Young while studying abroad in Australia last year, and the two became engaged around Thanksgiving. According to the police report, Young was told several times not to see his ex-fiancée by her family and lawyers.
Young made comments that he would take her back to Australia and not even murder would stop him, the report said. He had also been arrested for misdemeanor theft on Dec. 31 in Allentown and was released on bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday at the Centre County Courthouse.
