Another very successful fall sports season has propelled Penn State into seventh place in the 11th Annual Directors' Cup survey through the fall sports season.
Penn State is seeking its eighth top-10 finish in the Directors' Cup, having placed in the top 25 in all 10 previous surveys.
The Lions placed fifth in 2002-03 for their fourth top-five finish in the survey's first decade.
The Nittany and Lady Lions earned 234 points during this past fall. Michigan leads the standings, followed by UCLA (298), nine-time defending champion Stanford (289), Maryland (275), BYU (248), North Carolina (241), Penn State, Washington (228), Southern California (215) and Wake Forest (207).
The Big Ten is second among all conferences with five institutions in the top 25: Michigan (1st),Penn State (7th), Ohio State (19th), Indiana (20th) and Wisconsin (24th).
The ACC leads with six schools in the top 25, while the Pac-10 has four. There are more than 300 eligible colleges and universities this year in Division I-A.
Three Penn State fall programs advanced to the quarterfinals of their respective NCAA Championships while a fourth competed in its national meet.
