Alpha Fire Co. responded to an automatic fire alarm at 1:50 p.m. yesterday at 252 E. Beaver Ave., where residents of Kappa Sigma fraternity notified firefighters of the odor of natural gas.

Assistant fire chief Dennis Harris said the gas to the entire building was immediately shut off. Columbia Gas Company investigated the source of the gas leak and gas will be restored to the building after the problem is fixed, Harris said.
