PSU employee injured by car on Curtain Road

A Penn State employee was injured after he was struck by a car at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday on Curtin Road near the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State University Police said.

The man was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of leg, shoulder and hand injuries. He was later transported to Hershey Medical Center for emergency surgery on his leg.

Clifford Lutz, university police supervisor, said medical personnel were concerned about nerve damage to the man's leg due to the multiple fractures sustained in the incident. He added that the injuries were not life threatening.

Lutz said the officer on the scene said that inclement weather played a key role in the incident, and visibility was poor at the time of the accident. The man had exited a bus on his way home from work when he was struck, police said.
