A man was taken into custody Wednesday after a two-hour police standoff on the 600 block of Waupelani Drive.
State College Police Department officers responded to a 911 hang-up call at the apartment at about 1:45 p.m. A man in his 40s at the residence denied police information about the welfare of those inside. The individual then made threats and indicated that he had firearms in the apartment, police said.
Police employed containment tactics and communicated with the man by telephone for about two hours. At about 4:15 p.m., the man agreed to leave the apartment and was taken into custody without further problems.
The man is currently in the care of a mental health facility, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
