Claims of conspiracy hurt Republican efforts

Being a conservative here at Penn State can be an interesting challenge at times, as your views can be scoffed at by others. Brian Battaglia's antics this past week, and his reaction to the fallout, doesn't make living this challenge easier ("Pictures lead to call for resignations," Dec. 5). While I support the his right to take photos and write captions on his private Web space, that doesn't mean what he did was acceptable. His actions just reinforce the stereotype of the bigot, racist conservative that most other conservatives try to break away from.

Battaglia claims this is all a left-wing conspiracy to bring him down and to break conservatives. These claims just make him and his group look that much more bigoted and a bit paranoid. Most students have better things to do, like study for upcoming exams, than to plot the downfall of the College Republicans.
