I am a registered Republican and would classify both my political beliefs as well as my lifestyle from day to day as very conservative.
However, when mentioning this to my fellow Penn Staters in conversations, I often get funny looks and laughs. The recent actions of members of the College Republicans here at Penn State ("Pictures lead to call for resignations," Dec. 5) have done a disservice not only to themselves as individuals and a group, but also to the student body as a whole, Penn State University and Republicans nationwide, including me. This should not become a discussion about the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. This is about a respect for fellow human beings.
Personally, I have not and will not associate myself with the College Republicans for their lack of respect, taste and class.
This, however, is not just about my feelings of resentment toward this group for being misrepresented as a Republican. This is about my love and passion for Penn State as an institution and a family.
As to the claim that this was a private party and private Web site, I agree. However, by posting pictures of this party on the Web page and posting a link on the Penn State server, it becomes a matter of public discussion. Penn State, you should be outraged.
