I was saddened to read about the photos on Brian Battaglia's Web site and his bizarre defense of them ("Pictures lead to call for resignations," Dec. 5). The university administration was right to issue a prompt response that decried the pictures. I continue to think of Penn State as a place where people stand up for their neighbors, rather than hate them. Battaglia and friends are being vilified not because they are Republicans, or whatever they think they are, but because they insulted everyone in the community. People who truly support liberty understand that it comes with responsibilities, and consider it a privilege to live up to them.
