Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to column on liberal influence

This is in response to Andrew Criado's column ("Liberals' hold over college campuses is diminishing," Dec. 4). In it, he states that "...ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and PBS are liberally slanted." Is he referring to the same "liberal" ABC that hired Dennis Miller, then Rush Limbaugh to help out with football coverage? Or the "liberal" CBS that had Dan Rather say to Larry King that patriotism comes before accurate war coverage? Or the "liberal" MSNBC that broadcasts Joe Scarborough for an hour, but cancelled Phil Donahue? Or the "liberal" CNN that covered the Iraq war the exact same way Fox News did, offering nothing on critical questions as to why we were going to war, just unrelenting awe at the technology of our massive war machines? Or the "liberal" NPR and PBS who make the mistake of actually asking these critical questions, and get accused of being liberal because of it? I watch Jim Leherer almost every night, and that program gives the most balanced voice to both sides of an issue of any news program out there.

I'm sorry Criado, but if the media in this country is slanted in any direction, it is slanted to the right. The concentration and consolidation of the mainstream media into a few selected hands in this country ensures that.
