The Penn State men's women's swimming and diving teams head to Athens, GA this weekend to participate in the Georgia Invitaitonal.
"It's sort of a mid-season evaluation," Penn State swimming and diving coach Bill Dorenkott said.
Penn State will join the host Bulldog and Lady Bulldogs as well as Virginia Tech, Alabama, Georgia Tech and Minnesota.
The Georgia men and women won the top honors at the event last year.
The Penn State men's team (2-4) is coming off of back-to-back wins over St. Bonaventure and West Chester.
The No. 13 women's team (4-1) has beaten Washington, St. Bonaventure and West Chester in its last three meets.
The Nittany Lions recently swept the four weekly Big Ten conference honors.
Todd Minnier, who won three individual races on Tuesday in the men's win over West Chester, was named the Big Ten Men's Swimmer-of-the-Week. Freshman Nikki Collins was named the Big Ten women's Swimmer-of-the-Week after recording the fourth fastest time in Penn State history in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Mike Alderman was honored with the Men's Diver-of-the-Week after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the last meet. Lisa Silvestri was named the Women's Diver-of-the Week.
"After the Georgia Invite we can look forward to the Christmas training period," Silvestri said.
Both the men and women will be traveling to Naples, FL to train for the remainder of the season from December 27- January 9.
