Together, the trio is possibly the most dangerous scoring threat in the nation. And on their last home match of the season, they proved why.
"Weimer and Drummond and Lohman are quite a handful to try to keep in check," Texas A&M women's soccer coach G. Guerrieri said.
Saturday, they were too much for the Aggies to keep in check.
Drummond was a part of every goal scored in the 3-0 victory Saturday, assisting on the first and last, and netting the second one herself. Lohman scored the eventual game winner just twelve minutes into play, and Weimer capped off the shutout with her 20th goal of the season.
Combined, the three players have 55 goals, 25 assists and 135 total points on the season. They have notched 18 game winning goals and fired nearly 300 shots on goal.
"You won't find many teams in the country that have three players in high double digits for goals," Penn State women's soccer coach Paula Wilkins said. "There aren't many teams left in the NCAA tournament that have as many people who can score this much."
Throughout the season, the Lions have had to count on scoring opportunities coming from alternate outlets. Opponents have often keyed in on Lohman who was tabbed with high praises in the preseason, but Drummond and Weimer have stepped up to fill in as those other options.
In just three games thus far in the tournament, Drummond has already tallied 13 points.
And Weimer has kept up her pace as she was the Big Ten scoring leader and now has amassed 21 total goals.
