Dennis Bennett, a Penn State student charged with the sale or transfer of firearms and unsworn falsifications to authorities, waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
Police said Bennett, of the 600 block of Vairo Boulevard, attempted to purchase a firearm on Sept. 10 from Wal-Mart, 1665 N. Atherton St., after he was involuntarily committed twice prior for his mental health. In filling out a form mandated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Bennett denied he had ever been committed or adjudicated for mental health reasons.
